Every day we post the best examples of digital marketing and advertising that we spot on Instagram. If you missed them then be sure to follow us on Instagram to stay up to date.
To expand a little bit on the brands that we spot doing great work we are going to start collating our findings here on our blog where we have a little bit more space and time to examine each example in greater detail.
1. Urban Outfitters – Retro Travel
We loved this post for many reasons, it ticks so many important boxes for social media. Firstly, this is Instagram so we need to look at the image itself. It is interesting, it entices the viewer to look more closely and consider each element of the photo. The composition is great and the quality is professional.
The other important element with any marketing communication is making sure that you are educating your audience. Personally I didn’t realise you could put a whole outfit together at Urban Outfitters but this simple post told me that I can get my whole holiday outfit and accessories from the shop!
That point leads on nicely to the final point which is about exciting and inspiring your audience. I looked at the image and immediately felt excitement because I am off on a city break in a few weeks time. This simple image got my pulse racing thinking about what to pack and all of the fun that awaits me. I am left with a positive feeling about Urban Outfitters as a result.
2. Pacha – Feel The Noise
Pacha is probably the most famous club on Ibiza and in fact has grown into a worldwide brand. The photo posted by the brand is visually impactful and if you are into clubbing then it will speak to you. It captures that point when the beat is building to a crescendo, the dancefloor is packed and you are surrounded by your mates on the best holiday ever.
Much like the example we picked from Urban Outfitters, this photo speaks to Pacha’s audience and sends them a subliminal nudge, “Hey, have you booked your flights yet? The season is about to open!”. When you consider the timing of the post you see there is no coincidence here, the brand is preparing to start enticing its audience over to the White Isle .
3. Levis – Casual Communication
Levis have done something clever with this post and most people won’t pick up on it, again a great example of a brand educating and inspiring its audience in one go.
Firstly you have the honest models picked for the shoot, a great idea since it’s not just size zero girls who buy jeans, we all need them. So, this one photo shows us clearly that Levis caters for all shapes and sizes and so immediately when we next need to buy some jeans we have been educated to recall Levis as the shop in which we will definitely find a size that fits.
The brand has also used the #LiveInLevis hashtag to encourage its audience to tag their own pics. Now if you think about the selfies we take and the photos others take of us that we want to share they are usually not when we are just sat around at home. Usually we are in an interesting location and that creates a good opportunity for Levis. Imagine your friend has taken a picture of you lying on a beautiful beach somewhere, you are in your Levis because you love them and you decide to post the photo to your Instagram account. You use the #LiveInLevis hashtag and probably also tag the location. Suddenly you have exposed all of your followers not just to your beautiful photo but also the Levis brand.
4. Lego – Have Fun
Lego posted a great video to their Instagram page which was eye-catching and fun. It was a stop-motion animation showing the building of a massive pirate ship complete with Lego characters.
What is really important in any marketing communication is that your product or brand comes to life and reflects its core values. Here Lego is all about fun and of course this comes through in the video.
5. Innocent – Quirky Ideas
This is an odd one but a great idea! Take your product (smoothies and juices), empty the product out of it’s packaging and fill the packaging with soil and a succulent plant! Crazy right?
Well no! The Innocent brand has been built around the idea of natural ingredients, health and vitality. Their branding has always been quirky and people love them for that very reason. Here Innocent are demonstrating that you can make a mini-greenhouse from a bottle of juice, they are showing you how to make something cool and recycle the packaging.
So, one simple photo reflects the fun brand and upholds the brand identity which includes dedication to environmentalism.
6. Halfords – Petrol Heads
We liked this Instagram post because it reflected the brand’s wide view of marketing. Halfords sells thousands of car parts and accessories and whilst not every Halfords customer is a “Petrol Head” many will be.
So, Halfords have used sponsorship of the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) to ensure that their brand is seen by hundreds of thousands of people every other weekend throughout the racing season.
7. GoPro – Adrenaline Junkies
GoPro products are synonymous with action and adventure and the brand’s whole approach has always been about showcasing what their products can do.
The great thing for GoPro is that their products are being used by their customers every single day in some of the World’s most exciting locations. The customers are motivated to share their films and photos and do so by using the brand hashtag.
In effect, GoPro is being fed marketing material by their customers, they aren’t even have to come up with creative ideas themselves. This is also building a community around the brand which helps to cement users as long standing customers.
8. Desigual – Hippie Chic
Desigual are an Ibiza born fashion retailer and their photography is fantastic. They often share shots of their fashion products and encourage their audience to buy.
The key when advertising your products via social media is to make sure you aren’t bombarding people and also that there is thought behind your decision to share. In this example the brand has timed the post with the start of Spring when women all around the UK are starting to clean out their wardrobes!
9. ASOS – Bold Style
In this example from ASOS the emphasis is on bold impact. The photography itself is strong and the brand is encouraging people to shop by including the #AsSeenOnMe hashtag through which they can buy all of the items in the photo.
This is a good example of how digital advertising is changing the way we shop. From one click you can have all of the items in the photo above in your shopping basket ready to buy.
Here at Adaptv we don’t believe that any two clients are the same. Your needs may be similar to those of another company, however, they are unique to you. This poses a problem for marketing agencies who prefer a rigidly structured approach to handling clients.
At Adaptv we have all worked for large digital and offline marketing agencies, some of the biggest in the UK in fact. We have seen how these agencies attempt to pigeon-hole clients and roll out their structured processes to projects which aren’t suited. This weakens the success of the project but also increases the cost to the client who often has to overspend in areas of account and project management to try to break the mould their project has been forced into.
We do things differently. By breaking our full-service offering down into small bolt-on offerings we give you the opportunity to build a marketing campaign that perfectly suits your business objectives, your branding requirements and your budget.
